Apple Somerset Redstreak

Apple Somerset Redstreak

Dating back to the early 20th century, Apple Somerset Redstreak is still one of the main commercial English bittersweet cider apples. The fruit is medium-sized and glossy red, with bittersweet juice with soft tannins, useable for single vintage cider, or for blending with more astringent apples. Apple Somerset Redstreak is fairly vigorous, and comes early into bearing. It’s a spur-bearer, and a heavy cropper in time, though with a consequent tendency to biennial bearing. Some resistance to scab.
